Poetry’s Rebirth

Poetry is not dead. It is alive and well on Associated Content’s poetry section, as this melancholy offering called “Rejection”:

Get on with my life?
I wouldn’t understand?
Why wouldn’t I understand?
My whole life, I’ve been thought of as stupid; naive? Why?
Why am I rejected? Not wanted?
What’s wrong with me? Am I not worth being loved?

I hurt. I ache.
Am I really a mistake?
love you now,
as I did so many years ago.
And you walked away from me then, too.
What did I do?
To be rejected,
I must have deserved it.
I deserve to be torn apart.
You’re right. I don’t understand.
Explain it to me.
Explain the rejection.
