Ford+, the plus size division of Ford models, just put out a new promotional book featuring some of their top models. What’s striking about Ford’s latest promotional push is that it’s simply comprised of beautiful high-fashiony images of models who happen to not be straight size (that means they are not a 0 and can be anywhere from a size 8 to 18). It seems to be (and hopefully is) part of trend of incorporating models who aren’t 0s and 2s–not just Crystal Renn–into the high fashion world, beyond catalogues.

Gary Dakin, the head of Ford’s plus board, has been with the modeling agency for the last 13 years. In that time span, he says the market has changed dramatically for plus size models.

“There are better clients, jobs, photographers, rates, etc.,” he says. “The girls have evolved too…they are challenged now more than ever to be better and they challenge the industry right back.”

Dakin pinpoints the moment the industry began shifting to embrace plus to around 10 years ago. “It actually started changing when Kate Dillon hit and plus models started getting recognized. Crystal [Renn] took it to new heights as she challenged and changed minds. She, as Kate did before, opened doors.”

Fashion has always had a thing for cats (see: Grace Coddington, cat hats on Anna Sui’s fall runway, United Bamboo’s cat calendar, this amazing spread in Vogue Italia, etc.,). Also, I have a thing for cats (but not in a creepy way, ok?) so I pretty much haven’t been able to put real sentences together since I saw this mind-blowing promo video for this new product from Japanese company Neurowear, that came to my attention via The Daily Wh.at.

Did you not see Kate Middleton’s dress as it was revealed in real time because you’re not insane and you didn’t want to wake up super early? While Kate Middleton was picking up summer dresses and silk blouses on her high street shopping spree the other day, she also picked up some lingerie. But not the Agent Provocateur super sexy wedding night kind. She bought some plain Calvin Klein bras–one in black and one in boring. I mean nude. She also got a lacy thong on sale for just £3.90 and the Sun had the good taste to put a model in said thong “to give Prince William a sneak preview.”

Wasn’t that thoughtful of them? Click through to see this hilarious piece of “service journalism.” And the kinds of Calvin Klein bras Kate bought. They were a relative splurge for thifty Kate at £30 each.

Next up, we’ll be breathlessly reporting on Kate Middleton shopping for…socks! Not really, but sadly, maybe?

Last season it was Miu Miu, specifically that one appliqued dress, that kept appearing on cover after cover. This season, Prada’s spring 2011 is sweeping the glossy covers (though Dolce & Gabbana’s spring collection is making a run for it, too). So far Prada’s colorful stripey bananas collection has seen 48 covers 15 covers (that we’ve counted) and starred in countless editorials. That’s over triple the number we initially tallied. Thanks to the good people at Prada for sending us their cover clips (and we didn’t include men’s or tabloid covers).

Amanda Seyfried landed the cover of two major glossies for April–US Elle and Marie Claire UK–and wore Prada on both. Abbie Cornish is wearing the same green striped dress on the cover of Australian Harper’s Bazaar that Seyfried is wearing on the cover of Marie Claire UK. If you needed any further convincing that Prada’s spring collection is the cover star of the season, Anna Wintour herself is wearing Prada on the cover of WSJ. magazine.

Are we leaving any out? And which cover do you like best? I still like Gisele’s Vogue China cover–but now I think Avenuel is my fave. Which is yours?

Oh, Daily Mail. This is ridiculous, even for you.

Today the British tabloid published a story in which they highlighted Kate Moss‘s cellulite, now immortalized on Louis Vuitton’s fall runway, by comparing her ass to the rears of four other hots pants-clad “normal” women, ranging in age from 26 to 56. The point of the story, I think, is about how these women keep their asses in gear so they don’t wind up looking like Kate Moss. Personally, I’d be thrilled to resemble Kate Moss (who is 37) in anyway–ass included. Also? The 56 year old is a fitness instructor–so not fair.

But look at this lovely image they created so you can play “guess which is Kate Moss’s bum?” Can you guess!?
